Primary science tuition, online and one to one.

Science is three subjects taught as one, and a child who is comfortable in two of them can still be stuck in the third. Worth saying which when you tell us what is going wrong, because “science” on its own does not narrow it much.

Tell us what your child is working on and we will find them a primary science tutor. Every tutor holds an enhanced DBS check, has been interviewed by our school staffing team, and teaches in a recorded session in your browser.

The syllabus, in plain English

What science covers

Depth and emphasis differ between levels and between exam boards, and your child's school decides both. If you are not sure which part is going wrong, this is the shortlist to read down before you tell us.

  • Living things and habitats

Plants, animals and where they live, life cycles, classification, and how living things are suited to their surroundings.

  • Animals, including humans

The human body, nutrition, teeth, the digestive and circulatory systems, and how bodies change as they grow.

  • Materials

Properties of everyday materials, solids, liquids and gases, changes of state, and which changes can be reversed.

  • Forces, light, sound and electricity

Pushes and pulls, magnets, how light travels and how shadows are made, how sound is produced and heard, and simple circuits.

  • Earth and space

Day and night, the seasons, and the movement of the Earth, Moon and planets.

  • Working scientifically

Asking a question that can be tested, making it a fair test, measuring, recording and saying what the results show. The part that carries across into every science lesson afterwards.

What primary school asks for in science

Primary school runs from Reception to Year 6. In England, national curriculum tests are sat at the end of Year 6, but most of what tuition is asked for at this age is the everyday work rather than the tests.

Tell us where your child is now and what they are working towards when you tell us about them. Both are optional — plenty of families have never been given a target, and a guess is no help to a tutor — and whatever you say goes to the tutor with everything else.

Wherever you are in the United Kingdom

Every session runs online, in our own video room in your browser. There is nothing to download and nothing to install, nobody comes to your house, and nobody has to be driven anywhere on a school night. It does not matter where in the United Kingdom you live: the tutors on this page are the tutors available to you.

Tutor and child work on the same whiteboard, which updates for both of them as they write, and whatever is on it at the end is saved to the session. The lesson is recorded, and you can watch your own child’s sessions back from your account.

How it works, start to finish

A science tutor is still an adult alone with your child.

Tuition means somebody your family has never met spending an hour a week with your child, unsupervised. That is the problem this platform was built around, and it is why the vetting is not a page in the small print.

  • Enhanced DBS, every tutor

Every tutor on the platform holds an enhanced DBS check. We do not make exceptions and we do not allow grace periods.

  • Interviewed before they teach

Our school staffing team interviews every tutor before they take a single session. They are the same people who vet and place staff in UK schools.

  • Every session recorded

Sessions are recorded and retained for safeguarding review, so there is always a record of what happened in a lesson. You can watch your own child's sessions back from your account. The tutor cannot.

  • Continuously monitored

Vetting is not a one-off. If a tutor's clearance lapses they come off the platform automatically, and they cannot teach again until it is back in place and verified by us.

  • Nothing happens off the platform

Every session runs in our own video room in the browser, and personal contact details are never exchanged between a tutor and a family.
